The Last Of Us fans will soon be able to play what could very well be its own separate game. Don’t give Sony any ideas though…

It’s going to be a big year for The Last Of Us fans with the second season of the HBO live-action series quickly approaching, and who knows? Maybe the end of the year will bring a Last Of Us Part III teaser as well.

Take a look at the trailer for the second season of The Last Of Us below.

We’re also expecting more information on Naughty Dog’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which looks equal parts The Last Of Us as it does Guardians Of The Galaxy, very cool.

In the meantime though, there’s an exciting fan-made update for The Last Of Us Part I in the works, a mod that brings the No Return mode from The Last Of Us Part II: Remastered to the first game.

You can see videos on its development on the creator’s YouTube page, Speclizer, and it looks fantastic so far despite being incomplete.

Speclizer’s work has, of course, been shared on some Reddit threads as well, and fans are looking forward to giving the mode a go if it’s made public.

If you don’t know what No Return is, it's basically The Last Of Us’ version of a roguelike, starring several playable characters from Part II.

Players make their way through several rounds of randomised enemies until they come to a boss fight at the end.

In-between rounds, you’ll be able to spend the cash you racked up to buy new, more-powerful weapons to give you a greater chance of survival, and if you die, you obviously have to start over from the beginning like any good roguelike.

It’s a fantastic mode, and it’s great to see it potentially making its way into The Last Of Us Part I as a mod.
