Many fans are eagerly awaiting any news that their beloved Red Dead Redemption 2 finally gets an upgrade path for new-gen consoles, boosting framerates and textures.

This is something that modders have been playing around with for years, even pushing out updates for PlayStation 5 via exploited consoles.

Some time ago, Digital Foundry did a great comparison video, which has picked up steam recently as rumours begin to swirl that Rockstar Games is working on a 60fps patch for Red Dead Redemption 2, to arrive before the world is taken over by GTA VI.

It’s been a while since GTA was shown some remaster love, and players have been left wondering if the cowboy adventure would ever see the same experience.

In the YouTube video from Digital Foundry, they explore the exploit that removes the frame cap, allowing the hardware to run the game at 60fps, making certain sections buttery smooth.

Of course, not everyone wants to hack or jailbreak their console, and you can see from the comments that fans are begging for an official upgrade.

It’s a stark difference between the original game running on base hardware - this was before the PlayStation 5 Pro arrived - and the modded version of the game.

It’s practically night and day, and the PlayStation 5 footage shown is in glorious 4K, too, only making it look better.

One fan in the comments says, “I'm happy you're putting this content out there, DF! Hopefully it'll reach Rockstar and they'll do something about it. Highly doubt it, though. They're gonna want to release a PS5 version at full price.”

Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped on whether we’ll ever see a refined version of their masterpiece, and while many have given up hope, there’s always a chance that the official version of an upgrade will look as good as this, or better.
