If you’re looking for a PlayStation 5 freebie offering a cosy and cuteness overload, then look no further than this near-perfect 5/5 game.
Sometimes, we all need a bit of cosy cuteness in our lives, but sometimes, we might need a break from the likes of Pokémon and Animal Crossing. Not that there’s anything wrong with each, they’re fantastic, but sometimes, it’s nice to branch out once in a while.
However, when it comes to cosy and cute games, there are probably few that do it better than the indie community, at least on a long-term and consistent basis. Free from the shackles of a major AAA publisher, indie developers can pretty much create whatever they desire.
One such game is Woodo, developed by Tiny Monks Tales. It’s a puzzle game that gives me major Unpacking vibes, one of my favourite indie games of all time. So, that’s a nice bonus.

“Woodo is a cosy diorama puzzle game where you assemble wooden scenes piece by piece,” reads the synopsis of the game.
“As you place objects in their correct spots, each scene slowly fills with colour and comes to life, revealing charming animations and small surprises. Follow the story of Foxy and Ben the frog through a series of interconnected dioramas, each capturing a unique moment from their shared adventure.”
On the PlayStation Store, the Woodo demo has a rating of 4.70/5, so it's almost earned a perfect 5/5. At the time of writing, the Steam demo doesn't have a rating and seeing as the full game isn't out yet, there’s no Metacritic score.
That being said, even without the near-perfect score on PlayStation Store, judging by the Woodo trailer alone, this game looks absolutely delightful, to say the least. You may be pleased to know that Woodo has a playable demo not only on PlayStation, but also on Steam and Xbox.
“Woodo is the work of just two developers, two developers with an incredible vision and a wonderful sense of attention to detail. Many of us flock to the cosy genre because it provides us with a sense of calmness, and it helps us to feel restored,” said GAMINGbible’s Kate in her preview.
“I’m not sure I’ve ever encountered a game where that’s achieved to a greater degree than it is with Woodo. A sunny morning walk, a warm cup of tea, a hug from a loved one … whatever it is that brings you peace, you’ll find that same sensation here.”
Woodo does not have a release date yet, but we do also know that it will launch on Nintendo Switch, as well as the aforementioned platforms. Just to be safe, it might be worth adding it to your wishlist to be notified of its launch date.
