If you’re a fan of FromSoftware's Bloodborne, then there’s a good chance that you’ll love this 40-hour, PlayStation Plus offering.
There’s perhaps no studio that nails the challenging, but brutally fair, action-adventure RPG formula quite like FromSoftware. Over the years, we’ve been treated to absolute bangers such as Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne, to name a few.
The success of the FromSoftware formula, in particular with Dark Souls and Bloodborne, is why the ‘Soulsborne’ sub-genre was formed, because a plethora of developers attempted to replicate that magic. And to be fair, for the most part, it seems many developers have achieved that. One such game is 2025’s Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, developed by LeenZee and published by 505 Games.
This week, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers became available for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers, along with EA Sports FC 26 and Nine Sols. Which in turn, means that all three games are also included in the Extra and Premium tiers.
“Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike, action RPG set in the land of Shu during the dark and tumultuous late Ming Dynasty, plagued with warring factions and a mysterious illness spawning monstrous creatures,” reads the synopsis of the game.
“Become Wuchang, a skilled pirate warrior struck by amnesia, who must navigate the uncertainties of her mysterious past while afflicted by the horrific Feathering disease. Explore the depths of Shu, enhancing your arsenal and mastering new skills harvested from fallen foes.”

“Don’t sleep on Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, it’s fun,” announced Redditor sir_chill.
“Exploration is so much fun. Boss fights are cool, with great weapons and skills. Blurry mess at times but still a decent experience. 20 hrs into it and I can’t put it down. Shame there won’t be another game from these developers.”
“Turn off motion blur and film grain,” recommended Dankedup1992.
“I wasn't too hot on it to start with, but just unlocked the deflect on the longsword and it feels so much better,” explained Incurious_Jettsy. “Heavy Dark Souls feels weighty but not clunky.”
“The world design and interconnections are just incredible,” said prabhusiva619.
On the aggregate score website, Metacritic, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has earned a somewhat respectable 74. On Steam, from over 5,000 user reviews, it’s rated “Mostly Positive” and in terms of campaign length, according to HowLongToBeat, it should take between 40 and 50 hours to finish.
“While I don’t think Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is going to become the sudden favourite of soulslike fans, I can see it getting plenty of time in the sun,” said GAMINGbible alumni, Dan, in his review.
“The issues I felt are, in the grand scheme of things, relatively minor and can all be worked around, or even patched out by the developers. Which leaves me with an utterly engaging world, filled with sheer beauty, and plenty of fresh ideas.”
One of the benefits of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers being included in the PS Plus Essential tier is that, unlike games in Extra and Premium that come and go on rotation, Essential games will always remain in your library with an active subscription. Unless, in the very unlikely event, the game is pulled from all existence.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
