PlayStation gamers officially warned they have to spend free store credit before it's removed

Hurry while your points last

PlayStation users are in a frenzy at the moment as the PlayStation Stars app has removed options to redeem store credit.

This is already a problem as it means you have to save even more points to get PlayStation vouchers to spend on games and other digital media, but it somehow gets even worse.

Sonic X Shadow Generations released today, have you played it yet?

Due to changes to the terms of service, the PlayStation Stars app will only store your points for just over a year, so if you’ve racked up a balance and haven’t been spending some of your funds might be disappearing soon if they’re not spent.

The update also makes it impossible to earn points from buying subscriptions to PlayStation Plus, so spending your hard-earned cash on a 12-month subscription isn’t going to impact your balance.

Why these changes have been made is anyone’s guess, as it wasn’t really easy to earn and spend your point balance before, and now it’s even harder.

As you can expect fans are annoyed by this, and have taken to the Reddit threads to voice their outrage and criticisms about the app.

One user described it as a simply “awful change,” and there’s really no better way of putting it than that.

Others added that it’s business as usual with the app recently, claiming “literally every update to stars” makes it worse in some capacity.

Some users have even reported the way these changes have been implemented is broken, saying “I can't even accept the new terms if I wanted to. I keep getting ‘something went wrong’ errors.”

So if you’ve got a sizable balance it might be worth cashing in and spending it however you can, as there’s no guarantee they won’t disappear soon, it sucks but it’s seemingly just the way it is now.
