PlayStation Store Not Working, 'Gone Down' for Certain Gamers

The PlayStation Network seems to suddenly be down for the majority of users online

PlayStation Network was down for what seems to be a large chunk of users right, and for the second time in 24 hours. And we're not sure why.

The PlayStation Network has been experiencing some technical issues on the launch day of Black Friday deals (21 November), but it appears to be all quiet from Sony when it comes to an official statement regarding the outage.

It seems that the outage started just after midday, according to reports on Downdetector. As of 12:40 GMT, roughly 133 users on Downdetector reported issues with PlayStation Network. GAMINGbible staff also checked the state of play with their own access to the store and it was drawing a blank.

Over on X (formerly Twitter), dozens of users have stated that they were unable to access both the PlayStation Store and some of the online functions of the PlayStation Network.

“Anyone else having problems using PlayStation Network or the PlayStation Store?” commented user @SilentBun.

“@AskPlayStation there's an issue with the wishlist on the @playstation store. I'm seeing this issue on desktop and the mobile app”, writes user @Infinity13Gamin.

“PlayStation Black Friday deals went live. Guess what? The store is DOWN…” commented user @NuryKulk.

It’s unconfirmed as to exactly how the outage is affecting PlayStation users, because the majority of reports seem to be directly tied to the PlayStation Store.

It didn't appear to stop users from actually playing games online, with the couple of online games that we tested being more than functional.

The timing coincided with the launch of the Black Friday PlayStation Store deals, so it’s possible that it was just a momentary blip while Sony updates the PlayStation storefront.

Full service was restored by 3pm, with the store interface behaving as normal.

This outage follows another, much smaller PlayStation Network outage that took place at 8:50pm yesterday (based on a short round of reports on Downdetector from 8:40 to 9pm).

The official PlayStation Status webpage doesn’t currently list any issues with the PlayStation Network, but they’re generally a lot slower to report outages on the official site.

It seems to be unrelated to the Cloudflare outage that occurred on Monday too, which temporarily took the likes of League of Legends, Twitter, OpenAI and Amazon offline.

The likes of both the Xbox Live Network and the Nintendo Switch Online network seem to be unaffected, so it would appear that the issue is entirely on Sony's side.

Considering the unfortunate timing of the outage, Sony is doubtlessly hard at work trying to fix the issue, though (as it's definitely eating into their Black Friday profits).
