You can now get your hands on a massive remaster of one of 2001’s best games, free of charge on PlayStation Plus.
Got any fun plans this weekend? Well, if not, fancy sinking your teeth into one of the most influential games of all time?
As revealed by PlayStation a couple of weeks back, Rockstar Games’ smash hit Grand Theft Auto III has just landed on PlayStation Plus, but it may not be the GTA III you love and remember.

That’s because this is Grand Theft Auto III - Definitive Edition, released as part of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition bundle back in 2021. It’s essentially just a remaster of the original game, although you could probably make the argument for it being a remake too (considering all the extra work that went into it).
That’s because the original release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, developed by Grove Street Games, sort of got remade by Rockstar Games last year.
In case you never heard about this when it originally dropped, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition was in a bit of a state when it came out. Bugs, texture issues, terrible performance– you name it.
However, Rockstar Games actually went back and sort of reworked the release. After they released a massive patch for the game, fans seem to think this is now, as the name originally stated, the definitive way to enjoy the original three GTA games.

If you simply never got around to playing this one back in the day, you can currently download and play it through PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium right this second.
Alternatively, if you’re that keen, I have seen that physical copies of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition are floating around for pretty cheap these days. Certainly cheaper than paying for PlayStation Plus Premium.
