You all know the drill by now.

PlayStation Plus hardly ever really expands. Yes, it adds new games every month but so too does it take games away.

In fact, this month is set to bring us some heavy losses as PlayStation Plus is set to lose a whopping 16 games from across its extra and essential tier catalogues.

The first, and biggest of them all, is one we’ve known about for some time: Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West will depart on 17 September, following in the footsteps of Horizon Zero Dawn which left a few months ago.

Given that these are first-party games with no expiring licences, it’s only added fuel to the fire when it comes to the rumour that a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster or remake is on the way.

With a PlayStation 5 Pro announcement and State of Play event rumoured to take place in the next couple of weeks, might this be one of the event’s announcements?

It’s not out of the realm of possibility although I still urge you to take that information with a generous pinch of salt.

Horizon Forbidden West boasts a stunning DLC, Burning Shores, which I urge you to check out.

The other 15 titles leaving this month are: Marvel's Midnight Suns, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Alien Isolation, NieR Replicant, Spiritfarer, Star Ocean: The Divine Force, Cloudpunk, Star Ocean: integrity and faithlessness, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Star Ocean: First Departure R, Planet Coaster: Console Edition, 13 Sentinels, Unpacking and Sniper Contracts 2.

There are some big losses in that list.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a game I’d urge you to check out as it’s easily one of the most underrated Marvel games out there.

Spiritfarer offers an emotional narrative-driven adventure, while Alien Isolation is easily one of the greatest horror games ever released.

Personally, I’ll be rushing to check out Unpacking. It’s been on my list for quite some time.

No date has been confirmed for the departure of these games but it’ll assumedly be around the same time as Horizon Forbidden West on 17 September so you don’t have long to dive in.
