PlayStation Plus free games lineup for May off to a 'weird' start

This is a huge chop

Another month is coming to a close and although it is just another reminder of the inevitability of time and all that, it is also almost time for Sony to release its next batch of games to add to its PS Plus library.

Being a PlayStation Plus subscriber can be hit or miss depending on the games that Sony decides to add to the library each month.

Hogwarts Legacy is still available at no extra cost over on PS Plus!

Some months will feature some bangers, such as April, which offered subscribers the chance to grab Hogwarts Legacy and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage - Tape 2 at no extra cost.

However, some months have subscribers questioning their membership altogether.

Additionally, the arrival of new titles means that older ones have to be removed and it seems as though May is set to lose quite a few fan favourites.

Courtesy of user Shakettsu over on r/PlayStationPlus, 23 games will be leaving the PS Plus library ahead of May’s brand-new selection.

Although this also includes some lesser-known titles, there are a few games getting the chop that have surprised users.

That includes Resistance: Fall of Man and InFAMOUS Second Son.

“Weird to see Resistance and InFAMOUS Second Son leaving. Don’t really expect to see first party stuff leave,” one user commented.

To which user Kuchisabi4i replied, “I don’t really understand the value in removing them - do they plan on announcing new entries at a State of Play and want to capitalize on people going back to earlier games?

Are they seeing an uptick in interest on more mature Sony titles due to success from The Last of Us, and want to pick up extra sales?”

Also leaving PS Plus will be Grand Theft Auto V, Before Your Eyes, Batman: Arkham Knight and Ghostrunner alongside many more.

Hopefully this means that May is set to be another banger month when it comes to PS Plus titles.
