PlayStation Plus Free Game is an ‘Absolute Must’, and We Agree

You can't spell "PlayStation Plus" without...

Long-time PlayStation Plus subscribers have banded together to detail all of their must-play games on the service, and one title is popping up more than any other game on their lists.

If you’ve been subscribed to PlayStation Plus for more than a couple of years, there’s a pretty high chance that you’ve already played the majority of titles you like the look of.

Regardless of your opinion on PlayStation Plus’ quality (or, for that matter, the quality of the PlayStation 5’s library), it’s more than fair to say that Xbox Game Pass has it beat. While playing through all the bangers available through the PS Plus catalogue is feasible, the same can’t be said for Microsoft’s competing service.

Still, if you were picking up a PlayStation for the very first time today, there’s definitely enough Sony content in the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue to justify a year-long subscription. But where would you even start?

According to the consensus reached by commenters over on the r/playstation subreddit, the choice is clear: The Last of Us Part I.

“The Last of Us is an absolute must”, commented user Scott_Lawton.

“If you haven’t played any of these I’d do God Of War, Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man”, replied user RocMerc.

Alright, admittedly it’s not the most mind-blowing pick. However, there’s a good reason for that.

While The Last of Us Part II may have its detractors, it’s fair to say that Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part I is one of the most universally beloved games of all time.

This game is so good that the original game almost single-handedly repaired the PlayStation 3’s image problem back in 2013. Plus, it was popular enough to earn itself a remastered version and a remake within the space of ten years.

If you have suddenly woken up from a fifteen-year-long coma, The Last of Us Part I probably would be the very first game I’d recommend that you try. Either that or Ghost of Tsushima (which is, coincidentally, the second most popular recommendation in that thread).

Unfortunately, I didn’t see many commenters recommending the best PlayStation 5 game of all time in that list.

Starting to think a lot of you haven’t even tried Returnal yet, because if you had… well, it would definitely be the top comment on every single one of these lists. Do yourself a favour and give it a go already.
