If there is one question that every video game fan hates, it is “what is the best game you have ever played?”
Much like choosing your favourite child, the question is often impossible to answer but according to one gamer over on r/PlayStationPlus, the choice is easy.
Dave the Diver.
This comes after one user took to the site to ask for a “Chill PS Plus game to play whilst working from home”.

“Hey everyone, I’ve been looking for some fun, low-stress games on PS Plus that I can play in the background while working from home,” they explained.
“Something relaxing that doesn’t demand full focus but is still enjoyable. Any recommendations for good “chill” games on the service?”
Of course, the PlayStation Plus library is full to the brim with games to play at no extra cost.
In recent weeks alone, Sony has added an extra eight games to enjoy but it seems as though user jeff316 believes that one title in particular is the “best game I’ve ever played”.

This comes in response to user kennethtwk who simply answered, “Dave the Diver”, to the original poster’s question.
So what is Dave the Diver?
First released back in 2023, Dave the Diver is an action-adventure/management sim developed and published by Mintrocket.
Considered one of the best indie releases of 2023 and awarded a BAFTA for Game Design, Dave the Diver currently sits at an 8.2 user score on Metacritic and an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ rating on Steam.

In the casual, single-player adventure RPG, players will engage in deep-sea exploration and fishing during the day all whilst running a sushi restaurant at night.
Explore the life of Dave and his friends as they uncover the secrets of the mysterious Blue Hole but be careful not to run out of oxygen and make it to your restaurant shift.
Our very own Ewan Moore reviewed Dave the Diver when it was re-released on the Nintendo Switch.
“The game continues to introduce new features and mysteries as you progress, bringing in useful tools like a fish farm, and a much deeper story that gradually reveals itself over the course of the adventure,” his review reads.

“There are also various side missions and activities to engage with, like photo missions and aquatic preservation jobs which, hilariously, usually amount to you going into the water and shooting a specific number of fish.”
As mentioned, Dave the Diver is free to download and play for PlayStation Plus subscribers so if you want a chill game with RPG elements, then check out this indie gem.
