PlayStation has revealed the next batch of free games set to arrive on PlayStation Plus’ extra tier.
I’ll be honest, it’s somewhat of an underwhelming month.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s some fun titles included but I can’t say there’s a clear standout headliner that’s been heavily anticipated by subscribers.
If you’re keen to know which title offers the best value though, I’d argue it’s Fate/Samurai Remnant given its 70-hour-plus average playtime.

Developed by Omega Force and Kou Shibusawa, Fate/Samurai Remnant originally launched back in 2023.
It’s an action RPG where you’ll assume the role of Miramoto Iori.
“The battle over the Waxing Moon which could grant any and all wishes — the Waxing Moon Ritual. The seven individuals seeking their wish, or Masters, are the bearers of the Ritual,” the synopsis begins.
“The seven Heroic Spirits, or Servants, are summoned to this world by their Masters. The curtain rises on the battle between the seven Masters with their seven Servants.”

It continues, “Traverse the city of Edo and become victorious in the Waxing Moon Ritual. Fight, explore, converse... Many elements are deeply intertwined in this action RPG!”
That’s all a bit vague and prophetic, but essentially, you’re a ronin who’s chosen to participate in the Waxing Moon Ritual.
This is an open-world title where players will predominantly participate in hack n’ slash style gameplay, with various stances and weapons to take advantage of.
You can also partly control Iori’s servant in combat, adding an interesting flavouring into the mix.

Back when this title launched, it secured a respectable score of 81 so while I haven’t sampled it myself, I think I can safely say that it’s a game worth giving a whirl.
TheSixthAxis rewarded the game a perfect score of 10, writing, “Fate/Samurai Remnant is the best game in the franchise. It's a perfect blend of Fate worldbuilding and faithfulness to the Edo-period Japanese setting. It's also an incredible next step for Omega Force, and delivers one of the most addictive and engaging action-adventure experiences I've had in ages.”
This reminds me of something important; Fate/Samurai Remnant tells its own story so you don’t need to have played any other Fate games.
If RPGs aren’t your thing, there’s plenty else to sample on the PlayStation Plus extra tier this month.
