PlayStation Plus new free game is an 'extremely satisfying' RPG

PlayStation Plus subscribers are full of praise for latest freebie Dysmantle, which they've called an 'extremely satisfying' RPG.

Roll up, roll up. You’re in the market for a PlayStation Plus recommendation? Well, my friend, you have come to the right place. It can be overwhelming to decide which of the latest offerings you’re going to tackle next, but I’m here to make that decision a tad easier.

To recap, July’s essential tier PlayStation Plus drop includes Alan Wake Remastered, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Endling - Extinction is Forever. It’s a great time to catch up on Alan Wake Remastered ahead of the release of Alan Wake 2 later this year. The extra and premium tier drop then added a further 20 titles, including It Takes Two, Sniper Elite 5, World War Z, Spongebob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, and Undertale to name a few. Today though, I’d like to recommend to you the very excellent Dysmantle.

Take a look at essential tier freebie Endling - Extinction is Forever in action below.

Developed and published by 10tons Ltd, Dysmantle is a post-apocalyptic open world action RPG. It’s a rather simple format. You’re essentially tasked with destroying things to survive. Almost everything in your path can be broken and you’ll need those obtainable plastics, rubber and metal to get by and craft survival items.

Of course, you’re not alone and you’ll need to fight off hordes of zombies too. Reddit user SuccessResponsible is a fan and took to the site to write, “If you have PlayStation Plus extra, please give Dysmantle a try. Haven't seen anyone talk about this gem, so I wanted to make a post. Probably the most addictive survival game I have played in a while. Premise is to escape an island of zombie-like enemies by destroying all kinds of objects. Gameplay consists of looting, combat, crafting, base building, RPG-like levelling, and more.”

They continued, “The object breaking is extremely satisfying, and almost all objects are destructible. Main and side quests help keep your focus without being too restrictive. Games like Rust and Ark really got tiresome after a dozen hours because of the lack of direction. Would highly recommend giving it a shot. Includes co-op as well, so it can make a great team game.”

Shadowglint added, “Easily one of my favourite games when I picked it up last year. I love how everything you break down has a purpose to progress your game, it makes whacking the s**t out of everything so satisfying. The map is HUGE and varied too. Super fun game and worth a play for sure.” Give it a try.
