I don’t know about you but I actually don’t get as much time to game as I’d like.

That’s why the festive break is such a delight; certainly, it’s a treat to spend time with family, but it’s also lovely to enjoy some solo rest and relaxation.

It’s a time I use to catch up on my backlog, but occasionally, I like to venture over to services like PlayStation Plus to seek out games that passed me by at release.

If you find yourself doing the same, PlayStation Plus users are full of praise for one particular underrated open-world title, and I can back it.

For anyone who hasn’t yet played Ubisoft’s 2020 release Immortals Fenyx Rising, perhaps this festive break is the perfect opportunity to do so.

Available via PlayStation Plus’ extra tier, Immortals Fenyx Rising can be completed in just over 25 hours according to How Long To Beat.

That rises to 41 hours if you factor in side quests or 62 hours for completionists.

“Play as Fenyx on a quest to save the Greek gods from a dark curse,” the synopsis teases.

“Take on mythological beasts, master the legendary powers of the gods, and defeat Typhon, the deadliest Titan in Greek mythology, in an epic fight for the ages.”

Players will face off against legendary Greek beats including the likes of the Cyclops, Medusa, and Minotaur in a melee and aerial-based combat system.

You’ll boast several god-given abilities which won’t just aid you in battle but will also allow you to solve environmental puzzles and journey around the game’s vast open world.

If you enjoy Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series, I feel you’ll enjoy Immortals Fenyx Rising as you can definitely feel the crossover between the DNA of the two franchises.

There’s also a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild feel at play here, plus the Greek mythology aspects of the title may appeal to God of War fans.

PS5 Users Agree It’s Not One to Miss

Reddit user PsychoBunny22 was full of praise, writing, “Such a slept on game. Seriously. Sooooooo good. The humour is next level on the voice acting and one liners. Haha.”

That’s backed up by the game’s PlayStation Store user score which currently sits at a very high 4.25 stars.

If you don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription, Immortals Fenyx Rising is often on sale pretty cheap, so I’d keep an eye out for any offers.

It, of course, isn’t limited to the PlayStation platform and can also be enjoyed on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Consider giving this forgotten gem a go if you haven’t already.
