PlayStation Plus free games lineup for February 2024 is off to a shaky start

Well, this isn't a great start for PS Plus

Just when we think PlayStation Plus is hitting its stride again, it delivers a crushing blow by revealing which games are leaving us next month. All we can say is February’s outing is off to an extremely unsteady start.

The PS Plus service has been mightily generous this month, at least in terms of free downloads, but when it comes to the games on offer it still leaves a lot to be desired. The disappointment is palpable when you take a look at Reddit, where users are incredibly saddens to see some truly fabulous games in line for the chopping block.

“Well well well, f*ck me, I wanted to try all 3 Oninaki, LostSphere and Setsuna,” commiserated one gamer, before saying, “Which one should I play first?”

Let's turn our attention to our amazing the Last of Us Part II Remastered review

Those are all great choices, making having to choose which to power through first difficult, but seeing Resident Evil 7 leaving is a crying shame. It’s arguably one of the best titles of the franchise, which PlayStation itself acknowledges as it’s listed as part of ‘PlayStation Hits’. Consequently, it’s this loss that’ll be felt the deepest.

Luckily, there is some light at the end of this tunnel as the games don’t leave the service until 20 Feb, meaning those looking to ram in those gaming hours have several days to still do so. It’ll likely be a hard slog, but we have faith in you all.

Amongst the cries of frustrations were pleas from players to play through as many of these fabulous titles as you can, like this post from one user – “Don't sleep on Lost Words,” they said. “It's a cute little story about dealing with loss as well as a quick and easy Platinum trophy.”

With such a rough start already colouring our perception of Feb’s PS Plus collection, we’re already nervous to see what March brings. Hopefully it’ll be better news.
