Choosing something to play from PlayStation Plus can be tricky.
It’s not due to a lack of choice, especially within the extra catalogue; instead, it’s easy to feel patalysed by just how many wonderful options there are.
One vastly underrated game you may not have considered is Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition, a AA action-adventure that arrived on the extra tier earlier this year.
It’s perfect for fans of God of War, The Witcher 3, or Skyrim, featuring a thrilling third-person adventure.

You’ll step into the shoes of Ryn, “a powerful vestige born with an affinity for ancient magic”.
“When her brother is captured by a totalitarian empire and war threatens to consume her homeland, she must rise to protect both her family, and her people,” the synopsis reads.
Ryn is joined by Abram, a “seasoned scholar with a haunted past”.
Within Echoes of the End, you’ll venture out into a vast untamed landscape inspired by Iceland as you traverse across glaciers, volcanic depths, and forgotten ruins in search of Ryn’s brother.

This is a world where magic runs rampant, so you’ll be able to make use of both spells and traditional melee weapons like swords and bows.
Each chapter of the story also introduces new traversal and puzzle-solving mechanics which ensures that the game remains feeling fresh.
Ryn has over 40 upgrades to unlock, plus you can uncover 13 outfits and 20 relics that “shape your approach to encounters”.
Echoes of the End launched to mixed reviews but has since launched its Enhanced Edition based on player feedback.
Developers overhauled the combat system and animations, introduced a new equipment system, added New Game Plus, reworked the intro, and improved movement and performance.
The updated version of Echoes of the End is clearly resonating with players.
PlayStation Plus and Reddit user EarthToRob called it “an exceptional AA title”.
“The platforming puzzles are really very good. The story isn't Steinbeck, but it's above par as is the voice acting,” they wrote.
“The game has heart without being syrupy. There were new mechanics steadily introduced throughout the entire game, which really impressed me. The combat/balancing could use a little work but it was enjoyable overall.”

Plenty of others chimed in with their own praise.
“Just beat this one and agree, it is genuinely great. The first chapter is rough (the main character is unbearable at the start and you have few abilities) but stick with it and it's very much worth it,” remarked Locust123105.
“I also liked it, the dynamic between the main character and Abram was good too,” agreed OldNerve1.
It’s available to enjoy as a part of the PlayStation Plus extra tier catalogue now.
