PlayStation Plus announced its April 2026 Essential line-up earlier this week, with one of the games getting even better with a brand new DLC announcement.
The line-up was ultimately pretty mixed with only three games this time around of varying quality.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft was the stand-out title, compiling the first three of Lara Croft’s early PlayStation adventures into one package, complete with modernised controls and a visual overhaul.
The remaining two titles included Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, which is definitely the weaker addition of the trio, and Lords of the Fallen.

Lords of the Fallen is a soulslike game that doesn’t quite reach the perfection that FromSoftware’s games do, but it makes a solid effort. It’s not as difficult as other games in the genre but in a way that works in its favour as it makes it more accessible. Due to that it’s a solid addition to this month’s Essential line-up.
It’s actually Lords of the Fallen that we’re talking about today, as despite a sequel on the way the first game is still getting new updates, with the latest being especially good timing now that it’s coming to PlayStation Plus Essential.

Announced via the game’s official X account, the “CO-OP Update” was unveiled, which existing players have been requesting for quite some time it seems.
The post read: “By popular demand, your fellow Lampbearer can now perform key actions previously restricted to the host.”
Your co-op partner can do the following when they join your game;
- Upgrade weapons & equipment
- Socket upgrade items
- Interact with Vendors
- Use Chrysalis Rebirth
- Rest & warp between Vestiges
- Plant Vestige seeds
- Begin Boss battles
The update also tweaks the overall stability of the game’s multiplayer.
All in all it’s a solid update, and again it couldn’t have been timed any better. What better way to mark the game’s addition to PlayStation Plus than give it an update that makes it better to play with friends?
There’s been some confusion over which version of Lords of the Fallen is being offered through PlayStation Plus, as this update is only for the PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X/S version of the game.
Worry not though, the up-to-date version is coming to your Essential line-up so you’ll benefit from this update.
Lords of the Fallen along with Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream and Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft will be available to download for free on 7 April.
