A new job listing from Santa Monica Studios reveals they’re working on another game, and the description suggests it’s another God Of War entry.

Spoilers ahead for the ending of God Of War Ragnarok

When we last saw the God Of War, Kratos, and his son Atreus, they’d conquered the Norse All-Father Odin and restored peace to the Nine Realms. Atreus went off on his own adventure to discover more about the Giants, and Kratos remained in Midgard with a new mission, bringing hope to those that need it, as a good God should.

While the ending wrapped up the God Of War’s Norse escapades, it certainly left the door open for another sequel. Many speculated we’d see the series split between the adventures of Kratos, and the adventures of Atreus, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Recently though, a new job listing for Santa Monica Studios went live on its careers page, asking for a regular/full-time combat designer.

The job opening is fairly basic, and there’s no indication of what project it’s attached to, though when you look through the application requirements for the role, the God Of War series gets name-dropped.

The job description reads: “Must have knowledge of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022) and be able to speak in depth about the combat systems, mechanics, and enemies”

While it’s not concrete evidence, it’s only natural to assume it’s for a new God Of War game, as why would you need to know about the previous games’ combat systems if you’re making something entirely different?

At the time of writing, Santa Monica Studios hasn’t confirmed anything, and we likely won’t see anything about the mysterious project only next year.

If it is God Of War related though, I’m sure fans will be eager to find out where the story will be taken next, as several cultures and mythologies have been teased in the game’s universe up to now, like Egyptian and Japanese.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that it is a new God Of War game being developed, although a new IP wouldn’t be so bad either.
