Created by Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo is not only one of Sony PlayStation’s longest-running franchises, but it’s also one of the most popular video game properties of all time, making its debut on the PS1 in 1997.
Since that time, we’ve seen multiple instalments over the years on every PlayStation console generation, with each release pushing the boundaries and continually raising the bar of the racing-sim genre.
Combined with fun simulation gameplay, tons of customisable features and stunning visuals, it’s no wonder that Gran Turismo fans can't wait for each new release from Polyphony Digital.

The last game in the Sony series is Gran Turismo 7, released for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in 2022.
Sure, Gran Turismo 7 had a rocky launch thanks to its very grindy progression system that intended to push players to purchase microtransactions, but thankfully, that issue has been long fixed, and it’s still one of the best racing games of this generation.
Since its launch, Polyphony Digital has released a ton of content updates for Gran Turismo 7, bringing new cars, events and much more. The latest free content update is now available.

Update 1.61 adds the 2022’s Honda N-ONE RS and Nissan Qashqai Tekna 190 2WD e-Power, 2005’s NISMO R34 GT-R Z-tune, all of which can be acquired in-game.
What’s more, update 1.61 has also introduced three new ‘World Circuits’, new ‘Scape’ features (which is basically Gran Turismo 7’s snazzy photomode) and more.
“The best racing game ever made in the entire universe and the history of mankind,” declared Twitter user PainkillerQ8.
“Dude, that Nismo R34 is epic! It's like holding a piece of automotive art. Every lap will feel legendary in your garage,” explained Gulshank.

Update 1.61 will download and install the next time you fire up Gran Turismo 7, unless it’s already done the deed while in rest mode. In which case, you’ll be good to go.
