Quite possibly one of my most anticipated games of 2025 is finally getting the love it deserves on PlayStation 5, because everyone that’s played it so far seems to already be head over heels.

Cairn is an upcoming adventure and exploration game from developer and publisher The Game Bakers, and it just got a brand new demo on the PlayStation store.

It is, essentially, a game about hiking up a giant mountain, although that description kind of does the entire game a disservice.

The best way I can describe it is that it’s like a mix between The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Death Stranding. Resource management and the overall condition of your character is the focal point of your climb, and you’re not going to get very far if you don’t look after yourself in the process.

However, the real reason I’m excited for this one is the developers behind it. The Game Bakers are on an absolute hot streak at the moment, coming off the back of bangers such as Haven and Furi.

Don’t take my word for it though. Here’s what the users over on the r/PS5 subreddit have to say about the demo.

“Instantly one of my most anticipated games after playing the demo,” commented user Mobim_KD637.

“Loved the atmosphere, art style and climbing mechanics. The only thing that worries me a bit is that you have to drink and eat a bit too frequently. Hope that becomes more relaxing in the full game.”

“Finished the demo and i absolutely loved it,” replied user DarahOG.

“Game went straight to my wishlist, won't say it enough but we need more demos ! My ratio of demo completed / game bought right after is at least 70%. If Cairn was already out, I would've already bought it.”

You’ll have to wait until November for the full release unfortunately, but I’ve already got this one on my wishlist in the meantime.

Can’t wait to see The Game Bakers knock it out of the park again.
