PlayStation drops gorgeous new hardware reveal, and we need it now

I can't stop staring at it

Call me boring or strange, but it’s hard to tempt me with a new controller.

I’m pretty happy with my standard DualSense. You see, there’s a pleasing colour unity between my PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch OLED.

Every now and then though, something very special comes along that convinces me to switch up my, arguably sterile, white console line-up.

That happened when the Astro Bot DualSense dropped - I simply couldn’t resist - and it’s about to happen again now that I’ve caught a glimpse of the latest addition to the Chroma Collection.

PlayStation users can now bag themselves a Chroma Collection DualSense controller in the colour ‘Teal’ and my god, it’s beautiful.

You know what else is beautiful? The trailer for Ghost of Yōtei.

Its iridescent green hues look like a mermaid’s shimmering scales, or perhaps the surface of a dragonfly’s wing, glistening in the sunlight on a summer’s day.

See? I need it. My mind has been swept away into a daydream.

The controller launched just yesterday and if you want to nab it, it’ll set you back £69.99.

That’s not all you can get.

Of course, Sony has also created matching Console Cover plates, which’ll cost you £54.99.

It’s worth bearing in mind though that those only fit the PlayStation 5 Slim, so that rules out OG and Pro owners.

The plates, in particular, are exclusive to PlayStation Direct and come with a one year warranty, so that’s always handy.

While Teal is the latest addition to the Chroma Collection, Indigo and Pearl have already launched.

If you’re after those shades though, you may find that the DualSenses have already sold out at many retailers, although the plates remain widely available.

With that in mind, you might want to bag the Teal DualSense quickly if you’re interested, as I assume it’ll eventually befall the same fate.
