Following the killing of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk earlier this week, one PlayStation developer has reportedly lost their job after making some comments about the death over on Bluesky.

Whilst speaking at an event on the campus of Utah Valley University on 10 September, Kirk was gunned down by a lone shooter who, at the time of writing, is still yet to be caught.

Known for his right-wing ideologies and controversial opinions, the key ally of Donald Trump was also best known for opposing gun control, abortion, and LGBTQIA+ rights to name but a few.

As a result, his death has become a subject of debate on social media with many refusing to mourn such a controversial figure.

One such example of that includes Senior Staff Character Artist Drew Harrison from PlayStation studio Sucker Punch who made a series of Bluesky following the death of Kirk.

“I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back,” one post read, referring to Luigi Mangioni who is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year.

However, it was not long before some users took offence to the post and seemingly reported it to Harrison’s employers at Sucker Punch and Sony.

In turn, Harrison retaliated, stating, “Maybe instead of emailing people’s employers, y’all should be emailing your reps & demand gun control immediately.”

Now it seems as though Harrison may have lost her job over the comments as, at a later date, they returned to Bluesky to post the following:

“If standing up against fascism is what cost me my dream job I held for 10 years, I would do it again 100x stronger.”

Since then, Harrison has seemingly updated her LinkedIn page, stating that she is no longer an employee at Sucker Punch as of September 2025.

It is definitely a sad time considering that Sucker Punch should be celebrating the upcoming release of Ghost of Yōtei on 2 October but it seems as though the political unrest in the United States has put something of a spanner in the works.

Of course, it has not yet been fully confirmed that Harrison lost her job as a result of these comments regarding Kirk’s death but it can be assumed. Nevertheless, it is worth taking that information with a pinch of salt.

Sony has also yet to comment on the situation at the time of writing.
