Rumours surrounding the impending release of the PlayStation 6 continue to swirl online and this time, a potential release date has also been announced.
Let us face it, we all already know that the PlayStation 6 will be released at some point but for the first time in PlayStation history, it seems as though the majority of users are not ready to move on just yet.
That is because the PlayStation 5 had quite the unique launch back in 2020.
Faced with scalpers, stock shortages and a whole COVID-19 pandemic, many users did not get their hands on their PS5 until quite a while later.

As a result, many feel as though they have hardly had time to experience all that the PlayStation 5 has to offer and that is not to mention the lack of exclusives that have been added to it.
So it is perhaps no surprise that the majority of users are not ready to move on with the PlayStation 6 and according to a recent rumour, there is luckily still some time to wait until its launch.
This comes courtesy of Zuby-Tech over on Twitter who recently shared the following post:
“First indication on PlayStation 6 release date.

I would now say 2028 or 2029 the latest PS6 is locked in!”
This stems from a recent comment by Mark Cerny who said, "AMD is moving extremely quickly. What I'm trying to do is prepare for the next generation of consoles, so my time frame is multi-year here."
PlayStation’s collaboration with AMD was discussed recently and it is positive news for the future of the console.
However, it seems as though fans are feeling torn over the possibility of the PS6 being released as early as 2028.

“I believe that it will release in holiday 2028 but IMO, the ideal date should be holiday 2029 so when the 10th gen begins, first party devs won't need to make cross-gen games,” one user surmised.
However, another user thinks it will be a lot sooner.
“I’m still going to stick with late 2027,” they shared.
“KeplerL2 has been flawless when it comes to hardware rumours and he hinted 2027 multiple times

“People that say it's too early but will feel differently about it in 2027 and probably change their stance. It's still over 2 years from now.”
Sony has yet to comment on a potential launch date for the next PlayStation console but it seems as though the majority of users are not ready to give up on their PS5 just yet.
