GTA 6 PlayStation 4 Release Leaves Gamers Torn

It feels unlikely

Grand Theft Auto VI is only eight months away but at the time of writing, it’s only the players of two specific consoles who’ll get to enjoy the highly anticipated title.

Rockstar Games has previously confirmed that GTA VI will launch on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

A PC version has not been confirmed but it’s incredibly likely that the game will arrive on that platform eventually.

After all, previous major Rockstar Games releases have received delayed PC ports.

GTA V landed on PC around 18 months after its original console launch; Red Dead Redemption 2 took around 12 months to reach PC.

What is less certain is whether GTA VI will come to previous gen consoles, including the likes of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Will GTA 6 Be On PlayStation 4?

Personally, I’m inclined to think it probably won’t be arriving on previous gen consoles, but that’s just my personal take.

Certainly, you could argue that if GTA VI can run on the Xbox Series S, a relatively low-powered console, then it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

But would Rockstar Games go to the lengths to get it running on previous gen hardware smoothly when they could be, say, working on the PC port or online content?

Then again, it’s only in 2025 that the PlayStation 5’s player base has finally surpassed that of the PlayStation 4 so the audience is definitely still there.

It’s a tricky debate.

If previous gen editions are announced, I’d assume it would be way after the PC port arrives; that’ll surely be the priority.

The possibility of these console ports is being discussed by fans online.

TikTok user tasty.tech theorised that previous gen ports are likely out of the question given that GTA VI will reportedly already be capped at 30fps in order to run effectively on new gen hardware.

“It would be -99999999 fps,” joked one viewer.

“At this point, just get a gaming PC,” said another.

“Time to stop maximising graphics over gameplay,” read one comment.

Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye on any official updates from Rockstar Games, bringing those to you.

In addition to fans waiting for confirmation of a PC port, we’re also waiting to hear more on GTA VI’s pricing, pre-orders, length, and online mode.

It would be nice to see some unedited gameplay too.

It’s perhaps likely that Rockstar will surface once again as we reach the end of 2025 and enter GTA VI’s six-month countdown.
