The PlayStation 6 rumour mill is starting to churn, with leaks pointing to a release in 2027, causing many players to question this current generation of consoles.
Sony releasing the PlayStation 6 is inevitable, and despite what technological improvements may be found under the cover, it still feels a bit rushed.
Not only are the previous technological leaps forward much smaller, but many fans have, over the years, lamented the console exclusives, feeling like we haven’t got much bang for our buck.
Now, after leaks have been reported, noting a 2027 release window for the next console, gamers have taken to Reddit to vent their frustrations, with several claiming they’re giving up on console gaming completely.

“I'm sorry, what the f**k was the point of my PS5? Ghosts of Yotei?” queries one user, who alludes to the thinking that this generation simply hasn’t had a stellar line-up of exclusive games.
Soon, discussion quickly shifted to how many players would invest in a new console, with several echoing this sentiment from WickedHero69, who said, “NGL PS5 era is trash, I also own PS5 pro and this is will be my last console.”
While there are some pointing out plenty of games to play, the consensus is that the PlayStation 5 generation has been awfully light on bangers.
After listing a few great games, one user summed up their feelings, saying, “All great games (and promising for the unreleased ones), but for sure light compared to generations past. Also, most of them are getting released on steam nowadays.”

New consoles are often a very exciting moment in video games, but with the incremental approach to power, the returns don’t seem worth the investment to some.
Another PlayStation fan points to this as an issue, noting, “I just feel like we're going to be pixel peeping to analyse the graphical differences between the PS5 and PS6, but I'd love to be proven wrong.”
Only time will tell if players are feeling fatigued by the idea of PlayStation 6, or if they’ll even be able to afford it.
