It only feels like yesterday that we were all excitedly waiting in the wings for the release of the PlayStation 5, yet all of a sudden the conversation has turned to what exactly is coming next.
The PS5 Pro was undoubtedly a major upgrade on the original, but it didn't change enough to stop fans from speculating about what exactly we can expect when Sony does eventually drop the console that they'll presumably name the PlayStation 6.
Computing and tech YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead has allegedly received up to date specs for the PlayStation 6, and it's fairly safe to say that it should blow the current console out of the water by some margin.
Obviously that is something we would expect anyway, but it's nice to have the knowledge that several of the key areas are set to use cutting edge parts to deliver performance.

The first bit of major news is that there will be three versions of the console, a handheld, small form factor and high performance edition, priced at $399-$499, $299 to $399 and $549-$699 respectively.
That's a bit of a shock because of all of the chatter around the Xbox Series S performance, with Sony seemingly doing their own version of that with the PS6.
The small form factor and handheld consoles will have the following parts installed:
• 4 x Zen 6c Cores (gaming)

• 2 x Zen 6 LP Cores (OS)
• 16 x RDNA5 CUs (+60% performance per CU vs PS5 RDNA2)
• 1.20Ghz handheld, 1.65Ghz docked (handheld only)
• 24GB to 36GB LPDDR5X ram (192-bit)
Advert
• 3nm process
That amounts to roughly double the CPU performance over the PS5, with improved GPU rendering and ray tracing that significantly outstrips anything the current console can do.
The proverbial big boy is even more impressive, with specs as follows:
• 8 x Zen 6 (or later) Cores
Advert
• 40 to 48+ x RDNA 5 CUs at 3GHz+ (+60% performance per CU vs PS5 RDNA2)
• Est 40GB of ram
• 3nm process
Though it's tricky to tell exactly how much better it will be, it's a safe assumption that it will be several orders of magnitude more powerful than the PS5, and likely at least twice as good at most tasks as the other PS6 flavours.

However it turns out in the end, we can be sure that the upgraded version of Skyrim for the next generation of consoles is going to be incredible.
