A recent PlayStation 6 announcement promises that the next-gen console will likely blow our minds.
Sony hasn't announced when the PlayStation 6 will be released. The PS5 Pro only launched towards the end of last year, boasting improved visuals and performance. So it’s unlikely that Sony will be in a major hurry to get the next console out the door.
That being said, we all know that the PlayStation 6 is coming; it’s just a case of when. However, with the constant price hikes of consoles, games, and accessories, the PS6 will likely be the most expensive console ever.
We can only speculate how powerful and expensive the PlayStation 6 might be at this time. Yet, following a recent announcement regarding AMD, we can safely assume that the console is going to be a beast.

As reported by TweakTown, the collaboration with AMD will see the PC tech company co-develop the PlayStation 6 and its AI architecture with the upcoming Radeon GPU hardware in mind.
In a nutshell, the AI RDNA 4 generation of the Radeon RX 9000 hardware will ensure improved ray-tracing at a higher resolution with enhanced PSSR upscaling over the PlayStation 5 Pro.
As we already know, PlayStation architect, and the smooth-talking Mark Cerny, will once more work closely developing the next-gen console, with the aid of the folks at AMD.
During an interview with Tom’s Guide, Cerny said: “Big chunks of RDNA 5, or whatever AMD ends up calling it, are coming out of the engineering I am doing on the project. And again, this is coming out of trying to move things forward. There are no restrictions on the way any of it can be used.”

While the PlayStation 6 is no doubt already in production, I’d be surprised if the next-gen console is less than two years away.
I just hope when it does launch, it’s not more expensive than the PS5 Pro, which currently has an RRP of £699.99, and that’s without a hard drive. But I’m not overly optimistic about its price.
We’ll keep you posted when we learn more information on the progress of the PlayStation 6’s development.
