PlayStation fans are roasting a surprise system update for the PS5, and honestly, we totally get it.
It seems that Sony deploys a new system update for the PlayStation 5 every month or so. Sometimes, these updates are huge, making much-needed and highly requested quality of life improvements to the delight of gamers.
Some of these important updates can be snazzy dynamic themes for the home screen, Discord integration or something as subtle as being able to turn off the beep noise when you switch on your PlayStation 5.

Then, we have the generic and boring stability updates. Don’t get me wrong, I get it, they’re all very important, but at the same time, it’s never really anything to get excited about.
However, when reports were making the rounds that Sony is deploying a system update in phases across the world, it would be fair to assume that something big is on the way. Sadly, in the case of system update 25.04-11.40.00, that is not so.
“Starting today, PS5 system software will be updated to version 25.04-11.40.00 in a phased release,” posted Redditor ReaddittiddeR.
So, what is this system update that has to be rolled out in phases, I hear you ask? It’s to improve messages and usability on some screens. That’s it.

“Wow. Game changing…,” said Decuscrub69.
“Sony moving to staged rollouts now? This is how Google does a lot of rollouts, and it's annoying,” exclaimed VietBongArmy.
“Just give us folders. And you know what? The Spotify menu, whilst playing a game, could be better. PS4 did it right,” demanded galgor, and to be fair, these are both features that gamers have wanted for ages.
If the latest PlayStation 5 system update hasn't already been downloaded on your console while in rest mode, be sure to manually download it via the system settings.
