The PlayStation 5 Pro is going to be getting an online mulitplayer game that will take advantage of its extra power to deliver 120fps.

What’s even better is that the game in question will be free-to-play.

Moon Knight is just one of 33 characters to play as in Marvel Rivals.

With the arrival of Marvel Rivals, a team-based shooter, on 6 December, owners of the PlayStation 5 Pro console will be able to take advantage of that extra grunt in the hardware.

Announced on the PlayStation blog, it’s reported the Marvel Rivals will run at 120fps on the new hardware, though it will still meet 60fps on the standard PS5 - which feels too good to be true, but that's what Sony is claiming.

The game, which pits teams against each other to capture objectives and eliminate enemies, is hotly anticipated by many.

Not only for its use of the Overwatch template, but also for its visual designs of classic Marvel characters.

Being able to play the game at a high framerate on console is appealing to many as it will mean a smoother experience.

The game will use the High Framerate Mode on PS5 Pro delivering “an ultra-smooth gameplay experience with reduced input latency, enhancing responsiveness and control precision".

Fans are undoubtedly happy with the news.

One fan expresses their joy on Twitter, saying, “How's this game made by God's own real actual hands bro?”

Another player comments, “My PC is struggling, low settings 70fps, guess I'm playing on PS5,” perhaps highlighting console optimisation for the title.

Marvel Rivals impressed me when I got a chance to play the beta with friends, though on my own it felt a little lacklustre.

The constant influx of characters should keep things fresh, though the game will arrive with 33 heroes and villains on launch day.

Fans are wondering if Xbox will also meet the 120fps target, or at least rise to 60fps, but there is no official word as yet.
