PlayStation drops 5 new free downloads you don’t need PS Plus for

Plenty to play

PlayStation users have more demos than ever to play right now; you don’t even need PlayStation Plus for them.

These are all available on the PlayStation Store and usually work for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, but obviously some games are exclusive to the newer console.

Below are five game demos you can try right now, ranging from narrative adventures, to puzzle games, to soulslike titles, lots of variety here.

The first game worth talking about is Copycat, a game about a pet being abandoned which is already quite sad.

We won’t get into spoilers but it’s a touching story, and one you can try before you buy to see if it’s right for you, or if you can handle the sadness.

For something a bit lighter, Cattle Country is an excellent title worth a go if you like games such as Stardew Valley.

It’s a farming simulator but one you can really get stuck into, and the trailer even featured a voiceover from Roger Clark, who played the infamous outlaw Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, so it’s endorsed by the best.

Now we’re going back to the darkness with The Wellmonts Case, described as a “first-person psychological horror game set in 1993”.

It’s not a long game apparently, but worth a go if you love spooky demos, a bit like the renowned P.T tech demo.

Here’s that puzzle game I mentioned, Color Swiper, a game about swishing balls to colour in all of the squares on the board. You only get a limited number of moves though so the challenge ramps up pretty quickly.

Finally, we have Blades Of Fire, a title any fan of Dark Souls or Elden Ring could get behind - I know I did.

Blade Of Fire’s big gimmick is the player has to forge and maintain their weapons throughout the game, losing them when you die, it’s good fun and very challenging.

All of the above games have demos available now on the PlayStation Store, be sure to give them a go.
