2023 was an amazing year for video game releases, however, it did our ever-expanding pile of shame no favours whatsoever thanks to the likes of Marvelâs Spider-Man 2.
Last year, we were blessed with Baldurâs Gate 3, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Alan Wake 2, to name a few. 2023 was so good, that the existence of Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4 remake and even Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 may have briefly slipped our mind when thinking of the best games that year had to offer.

Developed by Insomniac Games, in our review of Marvelâs Spider-Man 2, we said: âThis is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle.â

Not only did we score Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 a worthy 9/10, but it also rated highly on aggregate websites such as Metacritic with a score of 90 earning the âMust-Playâ accolade. So if for whatever reason youâve not played Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 or its first game for that matter, you need to change that fact ASAP.
Yet, no matter how much a game may or may not achieve near perfection, post-launch updates are often required to fix previously unforeseen issues, even for a game such as Marvelâs Spider-Man 2. In a rare exception, post-launch updates do bring free DLC from time to time, rather than just fixes.
The latest patch has now been deployed for Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 and while it doesn't bring any new DLC this time, it does fix several meddling bugs. Most notably, patch v1.002.003 fixes issues related to the New Game Plus mode, and adds new accessibility options as well as improving overall stability.

The latest update will download the moment you boot up Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 with an internet connection. Thatâs unless youâve already downloaded the patch while your PlayStation 5 has been in sleep mode and if thatâs the case, youâll be good to go.
Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 is out now exclusively on PlayStation 5.
