A free Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 download on PlayStation Plus is being absolutely roasted by fans on Reddit.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was one of 2023’s best video games in a year that provided us with the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Resident Evil 4 (remake) to name a few. However, just because a game is well-received, it doesn't mean that everything is golden with fans.

In our review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we said: “This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle.”
One of the best benefits of subscribing to PlayStation Plus is the wide selection of video games that you can play at no extra cost as well as exclusive DLC, discounts and more. Also, if you subscribe to the Extra and Premium tiers you get even more games to choose from.

However, with PS Plus Premium you get additional perks such as cloud streaming, free movies and trials. The trials are similar to demos but instead, you get full access to the game whether it's a timed 45 minutes or five hours. During that period, you can earn trophies and your progress will carry over into the full game, should you make a purchase.
In the case of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, you get two hours with the PS Plus trial but not everyone is happy about that. “That’s what, a 50GB download for two hours of play? Ouch,” exclaimed P-Huddy. Though, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is actually over 110GB.
“It’s not even two hours because you're forced to play the parts where you're doing mundane things right after the intro mission,” replied jsho31. “Like walking around the house talking to MJ, and riding bikes with Harry.”
To be fair to Sony, as long as you skip side-missions and focus purely on the main campaign, two hours is roughly about 10% of the story, so anything more would probably be too much of the game given away for a trial.

That being said, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a fantastic game and no matter how you choose to play it, whether it's the full release or PS Plus trial, we couldn't recommend it enough.
