PlayStation 5 users can now pick up a new free demo for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a beat ‘em up game that came out in December last year.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion may not have necessarily had the staying power of bigger Marvel games like Marvel Rivals and Marvel Snap, but it’s proven itself to be a fully capable modern arcade game.
In case you missed the game’s launch window because you were unsure about it, you can now download a demo for Marvel Cosmic Invasion for free on PS5.
Created by Tribute Games and Dotemu, in collaboration with Marvel Games, the game features arcade-style pixel graphics and side-scrolling combat.

“So swears Annihilus, the living death that walks,” the blurb on Marvel Cosmic Invasion reads: “After an unprecedented attack is launched across the galaxy, all life hangs in the balance. With the Cosmic Swap tag-team system, choose two heroes for each level and switch between them instantly. Create unique combos and powerful special attacks. Each character’s abilities encourage creative team-ups and a more tactical approach to the action.”
The demo features two levels from the full game, which are set in New York City and Helicarrier, where you face down hordes of Annihilus’ armies. In the full game, the total list of missions is increased to 16, and features additional locations such as Asgard, Wakanda, and Fort Galactus.
As for the playable characters, you get access to nine of them in the demo. These include Nova, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Phyla-Vell, Captain America, Storm, Venom, She-Hulk and Rocket Raccoon.
However, other familiar faces from across the Marvel universe also make an appearance, and more can be unlocked in the full game.

The demo for Marvel Cosmic Invasion also features playable multiplayer, where you and three other players can team up in cooperative gameplay. How it works is you select two characters each, and can then swap between them on the fly during regular play.
The demo launched back in October for PC users, but has been made available on PS5 starting this week. You can download the demo by heading to the PlayStation Store on your PS5 console and downloading it from the demos section.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion launched in December 2025, and was received well by critics, receiving a score of 80 on Metacritic for the PS5 version, and 81 on PC. Reactions to the Nintendo Switch 2 version were less ideal, with the score dropping to 72 based on 10 reviews.
Whether you decide to pick it up or not, there’s no denying that 2026 will be an exciting year for Marvel fans.
This year sees the releases of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday in cinemas, and the video games Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls are both set to be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment later in the year.
Television fans can also catch Daredevil: Born Again season 2 as well as Punisher: One Last Kill on Disney Plus over the next few weeks.
