PlayStation has finally opened preorders for its next PlayStation 5 console, and while many are excited for the new release others are less impressed with Sony’s approach to new hardware.
The PlayStation 5 caught a lot of flack when it was first unveiled due to the design being so different to the consoles that came before it. A popular comparison made was that it looked like a router with two pieces of paper stuck to it.
PlayStation recently unveiled its new special edition console modelled for the new Ghost Of Tsushima sequel, Ghost Of Yōtei, which sports an intricate design in either gold or black depending on your preference.
Preorders for the console are now live, so if you don’t have a PS5 yet or fancy upgrading to a more striking design now’s your chance to bag one before they’re gone, as it is a limited-edition release.

Unfortunately many PlayStation users are disappointed with the new hardware, picking out flaws in its design despite excitement for Ghost Of Yōtei.
It kicked off a wider conversation about the overall quality of these limited-edition consoles, such as Reddit user Boogla19981 who made a post stating “I feel all the special edition consoles/controllers based off games are ugly and low effort.”
To be fair, I can see their point and others could do, as the comments were filled with other PlayStation 5 owners who hope for more striking designs in the future.
“I'd love to get some translucent one like the N64 had” said one commenter, a great shout that’d probably look great for a controller too.

“It's clearly designed to invoke the look of kintsugi, while also incorporating Mount Yotei. I think the design is really cool. I don't like the controller quite as much” argued another.
That said despite split opinions on the new console I’ll bet it sells out fairly quickly, after all Ghost Of Yōtei is one of the biggest games launching this year.
