Some of PlayStation’s leading properties, such as The Last of Us and God of War, could soon be playable on Xbox.
Back in the 1980s, and especially in the 1990s, console exclusivity was a major concept. You could only play the likes of Super Mario on a Nintendo console and Sonic the Hedgehog on a SEGA console.
In the console generations that followed, the first-party exclusives expanded massively, with not only more titles on offer but with Xbox and PlayStation entering the market, we had tons more exclusive goodness at our disposal.
Nowadays, when it comes to Xbox, console exclusivity seems to be gradually becoming a thing of the past. That being said, Nintendo and PlayStation are still proudly flying their exclusivity flag.

Recently, following months of rumours, it was officially confirmed that Halo is coming to PlayStation 5. A year or so ago, if someone told you that would be happening soon, you’d probably accuse them of talking utter nonsense.

Now, players can look forward to playing Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of 2001’s Combat Evolved, powered by Unreal Engine 5 on not only PC and Xbox Series X/S but also PlayStation 5 in 2026.
Furthermore, as reported by IGN (via Windows Central), it looks like Microsoft could be going one step further by making major first-party PlayStation exclusives playable on its next-gen Xbox by proxy.

It’s reported that Microsoft’s new-gen console will be more of a gaming PC and could cost well over £1,000. This hybrid console is said to be Steam compatible, much like the ROG Xbox Ally.
Playing The Last of Us on a home Xbox console could happen!
As such, if Microsoft’s hybrid console is Steam compatible, and there’s a good chance it will play the likes of The Last of Us: Part I, God of War (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and more, they could all be playable on the system.
Furthermore, as a hybrid console, there’s also a great chance that it will be compatible with Battle.net and the Epic Games Store. If so, is this really a console or is it a beast PC disguised as one? I’m more inclined to lean towards the latter.

If the rumours of Microsoft’s next-gen console being more of a hybrid with a price of over £1,000, it will be interesting to see how well it’s received compared to the PlayStation 6, which is expected to be around half of that price.
Knowing how Microsoft tends to operate, it will likely release two consoles, one more powerful than the other. This is, of course, speculative on my part, and all rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
Once we learn more about Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox console, we’ll be sure to update you right away.
