It is hard to believe that one day, hopefully in the near future, we will be sitting down to enjoy Grand Theft Auto VI.
However, after over a decade-long wait and multiple delays, it sometimes feels as though Grand Theft Auto VI will remain forever out of reach and now, thanks to a recent PlayStation update, those fears are being experienced tenfold.
First expected to launch sometime in fall of 2025, Grand Theft Auto VI will mark the eighth major instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise and the first mainline title since Grand Theft Auto V was released back in 2013.
However, with Rockstar delaying it until 26 May 2026 and more recently to 19 November 2026, many believe that Grand Theft Auto VI may be delayed yet again and if so, it could be 2027 before we see it.

Now thanks to Sony’s recent PlayStation Wrap-Up 2025, eagle-eyed fans have noticed another clue that Grand Theft Auto VI may just receive that 2027 delay.
Available as of 9 December, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users are able to get a glimpse into their year in gaming thanks to a whole lot of stats.
From most played game to most played genre, or most used controller to total trophies earned, the PlayStation Wrap-Up is just another way to keep up to date on your gaming year.
However, the excitement soon faded when players noticed one particular section of the review.
In a section dedicated to hyping up all of the big games that are expected to launch in 2026, one familiar title is seemingly missing.
Yes, you guessed it. Grand Theft Auto VI.

Does Sony Know Something We Don't?
The list of PlayStation 5 games expected to launch in 2026 included Pragmata, 007: First Light, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Marvel’s Wolverine, Saros, Resident Evil Requiem, and Nioh 3.
However, despite GTA VI being expected to launch in November 2026 and releasing on the PlayStation 5, it is not featured.
Is this Sony not wanting to raise hopes or does it know something we do not?
Either way, GTA VI fans were quick to notice this omission and took to the comments to share their thoughts.
“Playstation is hyping up games for PS5 in 2026. Not a single mention of GTA VI,” one user shared, alongside a screenshot of the games included.
“It's clear GTA VI is going to 2027,” another comment read.
However, another user thought of it a bit differently, saying, “And they’re not gonna mention GTA VI, because they don’t have to - when Rockstar’s hype train leaves the station, it’s gonna steamroll everything on this graphic, let’s be real.”
Hopefully Sony’s omission is a way to be safe than sorry and we will not have to wait yet another year for the arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI.
