Grand Theft Auto VI is creeping closer every day, but potentially raining on its parade are near-endless PS5 jailbreaks, despite Sonyâs best defensive measures.
PS5 consoles around the world are being hacked so users can play almost any game they want on the system, without necessarily paying for them. Many claim to be doing it in direct protest of Sony killing off physical media.
New PlayStation firmware updates have been rolled out to combat the jailbreaks, as those who donât install them could lose access to several PS5 features.
Unfortunately, this hasnât been a permanent solution, and now concern is being raised for games like GTA VI. However, the PC port might be its salvation in more ways than one.
The GTA 6 PC port is all but confirmed, and we need it sooner rather than later
At the time of writing, Rockstar Games has made no mention of the GTA VI PC port, but comments from Take-Two Interactive in the past have pretty much confirmed its existence.
Advert
Leaks claim itâll land in Q1 of 2027 and while thatâs sooner than previous Grand Theft Auto PC ports, it really ought to be much sooner, especially given the concern about the gameâs PS5 launch.
The PS5 firmware needed to play GTA VI next month has already been broken, meaning hackers could potentially decompile the game to make their own PC port. Weâve seen loads of PlayStation games make the jump to PC already via unofficial means, with the most famous example being Bloodborne.

Had Rockstar Games launched the game on all platforms rather than just the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, thereâd be little reason to break open Sonyâs console to get to it.
We know why that is though. Comments from Take-Twoâs CEO Strauss Zelnick have stated that the biggest playerbase for Grand Theft Auto games has always been console. Itâs where the bulk of players reside so naturally, Rockstar priorities the console version of the game first.
If the studio wants to prevent its game from essentially being leaked online for free, however, that PC port needs to drop as soon as possible.
Q1 of 2027 puts it somewhere within January, February or March. Out of the three, February feels most likely. Something in my gut tells me thatâs when Rockstar will drop the PC port. Again though, nothing has been confirmed so Iâm just speculating.
As for what you could expect from GTA VIâs PC port: better performance and visuals. Thatâs about it.
Official mod support would be nice, but itâs really unlikely. Weâre also unlikely to see any exclusive features aside from more customisable settings.
Perhaps weâll see the next iteration of GTA Online launch alongside it, which is speculated to essentially be a standalone game. Again, it seems unlikely.
Jailbreaks and PC port speculation aside, the launch of GTA VI should go down in history as one of the biggest launches in gaming history. November 19 canât come soon enough.
