God of War fans have a big reason to be hyped today because a recent rumour claims that a new announcement is near.

We can’t get enough of God of War, whether it’s the always-angry Greek God slayer or the somewhat more mellow Kratos, now a proud father once more who has no issue venting his frustrations on Odin and family.

The God of War series has been one of Sony’s most popular IPs ever since it made its debut on the PlayStation 2 in 2005, winning fans over with its high-octane gameplay and brutal action. Since that time, we’ve seen many releases in this series with the last being God of War Ragnarök in 2022.

Without giving too much away, God of War Ragnarök left the door open for a potential sequel but recent reports suggest that we could be getting another prequel (the first prequel being 2013’s God of War: Ascension).

It remains to be seen whether this new God of War prequel comes to fruition but it seems that we could be seeing even more Kratos in the months ahead if other rumours are believed.

As reported by Comicbook.com (via Reddit user Feeling-Examination6), God of War may be getting a new remastered collection, this time on PlayStation 5 as first reported back in October 2024 as part of the series’ 20th anniversary celebrations.

It’s claimed that the God of War remastered collection, which will take us back to ancient Greece will be officially revealed during Sony’s State of Play which airs later today.

Comicbook.com states that Feeling-Examination6 has a reliable track record when it comes to leaked information, which offers some validity to the speculation. That being said, we should always take unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.

Feeling-Examination6 claims that the God of War remastered collection will arrive “sooner than expected’ and will be released at some point this year. It remains to be seen which games will be featured in this collection.

Before God of War (2018), we were treated to a plethora of games spanning across PS2, PS3 and PSP. Whether all games will be bundled in one collection or split into two, only time will tell.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear further developments on this story.
