God Of War meets Zelda in must-play PlayStation Plus freebie, fans agree

Finishing an incredible game is always an amazing feeling but realising that you may never find a game that captures the same feeling is always bittersweet.

That is definitely the case for one God of War player, who after recently playing and loving the series, took to r/PlayStationPlus to ask for recommendations for similar games.

Of course, the God of War series is unique in its ability to combine story, gameplay and setting but there are definitely some games that encapsulate the Santa Monica Studio titles.

Luckily, there is one that not only fits the brief but it is also free to download for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

“I guess I enjoy the mythology side of [God of War] but it’s not required,” the post read.

“I just want a game that hits like God of War, an intriguing story with good boss fights that is available on PS Plus Premium.”

What followed was a bunch of comments with various suggestions but one recommendation stood out amongst the rest.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising which a fellow contributor claimed had a pretty basic story in comparison but matched the combat and mythology of God of War.

Released back in 2020, Immortals: Fenyx Rising is an action-adventure from Ubisoft.

Players will take on the role of a new winged demigod known as Fenyx who must embark on a quest to save the Greek gods and their home from a dark curse.

Although the most recent God of War entries have focused on Norse mythology, the original games explored Greek mythology so Fenyx Rising is perfect for those who miss the atmosphere of the beginning.

Better yet, Immortals: Fenyx Rising is available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for free for PlayStation Plus Extra members so you quite literally have nothing to lose by trying this one out.
