The rumours were true, God of War is getting a spin-off starring Kratos' beloved wife and Atreus' mother Faye.
Daredevil star Deborah Ann Woll returns in a new game titled God of War: Laufey, taking place just after Kratos and Atreus laid Faye to rest at the beginning of God of War (2018), before embarking on their own wild adventure.
Instead of passing through to the afterlife as she probably intended, Faye finds herself in a strange new place filled with new dangers, but unfortunately she's missing some of the power she once had.
God of War Laufey is the next mainline chapter in Santa Monica Studio's series.

She still has plenty of tricks up her sleeve, and despite not having Kratos' brute force Faye can still hold her own.

The gameplay footage shown gave us some snippets of what Faye's combat style is. Like we said before she's not the same powerhouse Kratos is, yet the big man did make a brief cameo during a pivotal moment in the showcase.
Wielding a sweet magical sword, and of course her magic, Faye's combat is quick, graceful and effective, which is exactly how we imagined she'd fight based on Kratos' recollections of her, as well as the additional lore we get in God of War Ragnarok.
This is a character who has thrown hands with Thor in the past so we really had no reason to worried.
What we do want to know more about is these strange new enemies holding Faye hostage, as they're clearly from another mythology not associated with the Greek or Nordic pantheons.
It turns out Faye has entered the afterlife of the gods, known as the Everywhen. This means she'll come face-to-face with a wide-variety of deities, some of which look to be Aztec whereas others could be from different regions, like Egypt.
We're excited to see Faye potentially come into contact with some deceased Greek gods, as it'd be great to hear her try to defend Kratos' actions before leaving his homeland.
We'd also like to hear more about the bizarre taking jelly cube and ribbon, who seem oddly helpful in a fight despite their strange appearance and familiar voices. The cube is also voiced by The Boys star Jack Quaid from the sound of things, so that's fun.
God of War; Laufey drops on PlayStation 5 sometime in the future. No release date has been given yet but it's more than likely going to be 2027.
