The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion has been masterfully remastered by fans. Now, we just need Bethesda to do the same.

Instead of re-releasing Skyrim for the millionth time, all fans really want to see Bethesda do, aside from show off The Elder Scrolls VI, is re-release some of its classic games.

Bethesda's Todd Howard serves as executive producer on MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion are still fan favourite RPGs, but they’re in desperate need of a remake/remaster. Luckily, fans are prepared to do what Bethesda seemingly won’t, as Oblivion has been lovingly remastered with all the bells and whistles current-gen PCs can manage.

In a video by Digital Dreams, Oblivion is shown running with over 200 mods and I can practically hear the PC groaning from here. This ultra modded version of the game looks phenomenal though, and while it still lacks the resolution and detail of modern games, it looks much better than the base version.

The real highlight of the video is undoubtedly the addition of ray tracing. The way the light shines through the trees and reflects off the stone is beautiful to say the least. To be frank, the graphics are the only thing you really need to change about Oblivion. The gameplay still holds up exceptionally well so a few tweaks to the lighting and details should be perfectly acceptable by Bethesda standards.

Unfortunately, it’s unclear if there are any plans to bring the game back for a second round. Hopefully if there’s enough demand, Xbox could convince the company to give the game a touch-up and God knows there’s an audience for it.

If you have a PC that can handle it and fancy giving this ultra modded version of Oblivion a try yourself, you can find the full mod list in the video’s description.
