Skyrim fans are urged to check out this brand-new free mode to see if they can survive the harshest conditions that Tamriel has to offer.

Developed by Bethesda Softworks, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is probably one of the most accessible RPGs of all time and this is likely one of the reasons it’s continued to be so popular over the years, welcoming fans of all generations.

Check out the Skyrim Anniversary Edition trailer below!

Players can lower the difficulty as they please, with enemies (including dragons) not posing much of a threat or they can crank it up so that just about everything in Tamriel can kill you in an instant.

You can even begin a rags to riches campaign, starting with nothing (even clothes) to see if you can become the most feared warrior or ruler in its lands.

However, if you want to crank up the difficulty of this ever-popular entry in The Elder Scrolls series even more, then you’ll want to check out this free download today, courtesy of modder colinswrath called ‘Survival Mode Improved’ via Nexusmods.

When this mod is activated, weather conditions, hunger and fatigue will have a negative impact if you don't take care of yourself.

For example, cold weather will lower your health, so you’ll need a place to keep warm ASAP, whether it's in a house or sitting beside a campfire. If you don't eat, you will become weak and fatigued if you get no sleep.

This mod sounds like it could be a fantastic addition to Skyrim and will more than breathe new life into the game, especially for those players looking for a new challenge.

Sadly, despite Skyrim supporting mods on Xbox via its Creation Club, this content is a PC exclusive. Though I’m sure there are similar mods available.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It’s also included with Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium.
