A Skyrim mod currently in active development sounds like it could be an amazing experience for fans, and best of all, it’s free.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is easily one of the most popular video games of all time, having sold a staggering 60-plus million copies since its inception in 2011.

Sure, much of those sales numbers are to do with Bethesda releasing Skyrim in every console generation since 2011, but if it wasn't such an enjoyable game to play, it simply wouldn't be hitting sales anywhere near that total.

That being said, as much as we love Skyrim, I think we can mostly agree that from time to time, it’s a welcome change that the beloved fantasy RPG might require a little refresh, so to speak.

Thankfully, we can always rely on the talents of the modding community to breathe new life into the games we love, and Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls series is no exception, especially when it concerns Skyrim.

One such mod that is currently in development is being created by Camora and will be free to download via Nexusmods. The mod is ‘Skyrim: Dragonbreak’.

So, what does ‘Skyrim: Dragonbreak’ bring to the table, I hear you ask? Well, judging by its description, it aims to bring some old-school features and gameplay mechanics to the world of Tamriel.

“Dragonbreak is a mod list overhaul of Skyrim that focuses on adding more RPG choices to the game experience,” reads the description. “Classes return, skills are overhauled with specialisations, and much more.”

It’s not yet confirmed on the Nexusmods page whether or not ‘Skyrim: Dragonbreak’ will be available on Xbox, but for the time being, we should assume it’s a PC exclusive.

There’s not much else we know about ‘Skyrim: Dragonbreak’, at the time of writing, but the early signs are looking promising indeed.

Hopefully, when it does arrive, it will help pass the time while we wait for The Elder Scrolls VI to grace us with its presence.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also available with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
