Rockstar's Midnight Club 2 just got a gorgeous remaster

Rockstar's Midnight Club 2 just got a gorgeous remaster

You can dive into this incredible fan-made remaster of Rockstar Games' classic Midnight Club 2.

When I say Rockstar Games, your mind might drift to the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises - or perhaps even the cult classic Bully. Did anyone have Midnight Club spring to mind?

Midnight Club was Rockstar’s take on the arcade racer and while the franchise may have since faded into oblivion, it was a staple for many of us 00s gamers. It’s tricky to pin down the definitive best entry in the franchise. Midnight Club: Los Angeles boasted a ton of content, including dynamic weather effects and a 24-hour day and night cycle, while Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition deserves praise for its globe-trotting fun and car customisation. For me personally, I have a soft spot for Midnight Club 2 and its banging soundtrack. If you too feel the same, you may want to check out this gorgeous fan remaster.

Rockstar Games is due to launch GTA VI in 2025. Take a look at the game’s reveal trailer below.

As reported by DSOGaming, this remaster project is the work of YouTuber and modder Hemry81. Speaking about the project, he wrote, “Welcome to the world of Midnight Club II RTX-Remix! In this gameplay demo, we showcase the latest updates to the mod, including enhanced asphalt textures and stunning lighting effects. Experience the immersive realism as the car headlights illuminate the scene, bringing the city streets to life. Stay tuned for more exciting updates coming soon! Join us on this thrilling journey as we take Midnight Club II to new heights with RTX-Remix.”

What’s great about this project is that you don’t just simply have to look on in awe. You can download a beta version and sample it for yourself. It’s time to take a nostalgia dive, albeit with a modern twist. Take a look at the beta in action below.

While this remaster is already looking fantastic, it is still very much a work in progress so do expect a few bumps in the road - pardon the pun. That being said, it’s a treat to dive into an old favourite.
