There are two things Red Dead Redemption fans want. The first is, quite obviously, a third game in the series. A big ask, but not one that’s out of the realm of possibility - particularly once GTA VI is finally out in the world. The second demand is far more reasonable though: a new-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Yes, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still one of the best-looking games out there, but it’s criminal that we haven’t received a new-gen update for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It looks as if the game is heading to the Nintendo Switch though, but that’s only left fans asking why Rockstar couldn’t focus their resources on producing a new-gen version instead. It’s not the only disappointment this year. Fans previously thought they were receiving a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption, only to find out that it was instead a rather pricey port.

Take a look at our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

While I don’t have any official news to share, allow me to alleviate your woes with this incredible Red Dead Redemption 2 fan-made graphical overhaul which demonstrates what a new-gen version of the game could look like. The project is the work of YouTuber Razed Mods. Take a look at it in action below. Be prepared to be utterly dazzled.

Speaking about the project, Razed wrote, “Visual Redemption is a ‘work-in-progress’ graphics overhaul mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. There were various tweaks made in order to enhance the overall atmosphere and provide a more realistic experience. Currently this mod overhauls various weathers, improves shadow distance in each weather, reduces the intensity of heat haze, fixes bloom render on lights, improves water reflections, fixes moon positioning and much more.”

You can download the Visual Redemption mod over on Razed’s website. Fans were impressed with the graphical showcase. “It’s crazy how much you enhanced an already visually stunning game,” read one comment, while another added, “Damn this looks amazing.” Very nice work.
