This free Red Dead Redemption 2 download is one of the best we’ve seen, but it will make you second-guess every NPC that you kill.
Without question, Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best video games of all time, perhaps even better than any Grand Theft Auto entry. However, GTA VI might have something to say about that when it’s released next year (assuming it doesn't get delayed).
“America, 1899. Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are outlaws on the run,” reads the synopsis of Red Dead Redemption 2.
“With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must choose between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang that raised him.

Much like the Grand Theft Auto series, Red Dead Redemption 2 is packed full of memorable NPCs, with some certainly friendlier than others. If we’re honest, we’ve probably killed hundreds of them without a second thought, whether they’re good or bad NPCs.
Yet, this wonderfully twisted mod will make you second-guess whether or not you’re going to put a bullet in the head of a random NPC. Why? I hear you ask, because it will guilt-trip you by playing their fondest memories when they die.
That being said, this mod is hilariously brilliant, too, so you might feel too bad when it gives you tears of laughter.
“I modded RDR2 so that NPCs have *actual* memories you are forced to watch when they die. Maximum guilt trip,” tweeted Blurbstv. “I may have made a mistake letting Twitch Chat write the scripts, however…”

“Can you stop innovating? Leave some awesome ideas for others, please?” replied PhuzzyBond to the tweet.
“This mod transforms every random encounter into an emotional crisis. Twitch chat writing NPC backstories is chaos meets genius,” said Ali_0xeth.
“The cut to the funeral took me out,” revealed Bad_Banner.
“This isn't a mod, it's an emotional warfare simulator,” declared Marvis_Quin.

If only this mod were available on the console version of Red Dead Redemption 2, because it’s one of the best mods I’ve ever seen. Hopefully, this might be a thing if Red Dead Redemption 3 ever decides to grace us with its presence.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
