Pokémon fans are begging for a new game, a shame because the next mainline title isn’t due until next year and will probably involve the Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokémon Legends Z-A will presumably be another open-world title that will apparently bring back Mega Evolutions, Pokémon from X & Y, as well finally provide a proper continuation to those games since they never got a third entry.

See the teaser trailer for yourself below.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait to learn more, as many believe it has to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, so won't be properly shown off until the next Nintendo console is unveiled.

In the meantime though, there’s another Pokémon fan project on the way, and my God it looks like everything we’d need to bide our time until the next game.

Pokémon Coral is a remade and polished version of Pokémon Crystal, arguably one of the best titles in the series but I’ll always be loyal to Pokémon Platinum, my beloved.

You can see fans reacting to the fan-made project on X, and as you can imagine, they’re very excited to return to the Gen II games after so many years.

Lewtwo, the user who reacted to the trailer, said “Pokemon Coral looks absolutely phenomenal, holy s**t.”

Naturally they were met with an enthusiastic “we agree” comments from fans, with one saying, “I usually don't play romhacks but a Gen 2 hack that looks THIS special and unique? IDK how I couldn't."

That’s the only caveat, it is a romhack and playing it through an emulator is piracy and shouldn’t be done under any circumstances, but if you have an original copy of Pokémon Crystal and the means to play it through a computer, you’re good to go.

Pokémon Coral is out now and fans are loving it so again, if you have a legit Pokémon Crystal copy that’s good to go definitely try it out.
