NVIDIA Just Quietly Retired Key PC Hardware, Rest in Peace Sweet Prince

A major loss to those building PCs

NVIDIA has reportedly shelved one of its most beloved GPUs due to supply issues.

According to Hardware Unboxed, the company has ceased production of its RTX 5070 Ti with those still readily available on the market the final batch to be sold.

As for why it’s so beloved, you can always rely on NVIDIA products to deliver, but the RTX 5070 Ti has the added benefit of being a mid-range product.

You get incredible results at a slightly more reasonable price point as, fair to say, very few of us can afford top of the range products.

Hardware Unboxed claimed that NVIDIA partner ASUS confirmed the news, explaining that the GPU was facing a supply shortage leading to the decision to end the line.

No explanation has been offered beyond this.

It’s a Tough Time for the Tech Market Amidst RAM Shortages

If you’re not incredibly technically minded, you may be blissfully unaware that we’re in a RAM crisis, another key PC component.

For those saying, “Yes, that’s me,” don’t worry friend. I don’t consider myself all that firmly in that camp either so allow me to give you an easy-to-understand rundown.

RAM, or random access memory, is largely where your computer’s data is stored, allowing the CPU, central processing unit, to retrieve data and process it. Everything is very aptly named.

I’m imagining you’re already gathering how crucial RAM is to electronic devices.

Well, there’s currently a global shortage, largely due to an increase in the demand for AI data centres.

Scourge of the Earth programmes like Chat GPT are powered by mass servers that require RAM to run.

For whatever reason, AI is increasing in popularity meaning more data centres are needing to be built to keep up with demand.

Personally, I’d urge you all to touch grass instead of asking a computer to generate a cat playing the trombone.

Seriously, one AI text exchange requires 500ml of water to cool the server; it’s literally destroying the environment.

Anyway, the point is that RAM shortages have erupted causing prices of available RAM to skyrocket.

If you’re in the midst of building a PC, you’ll likely feel the financial hit. Heck, even our favourite consoles could see price rises.

But for PC users, the combination of RAM shortages and the end of this beloved NVIDIA GPU make for a very rocky start to 2026. Let's hope things improve from here.
