Hogwarts Legacy fans in love with Unreal Engine 5 remake of the PS1 game

A nostalgic blast from the past

Hogwarts Legacy is easily the best Wizarding World video game to date.

Whilst, yes, it could do with a few refinements and tweaks, there’s no denying that this is the most immersive iteration of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that we’ve ever stepped inside.

Those opening few hours are truly magical. It’s simply a shame that once you’ve completed those initial lessons, the need to linger in the school lessens.

Hogsmeade offers a similar level of delight but the rest of Hogwarts Legacy’s open world leaves much to be desired.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: too many caves and ruins.

Hopefully, Hogwarts Legacy’s sequel will build upon the solid foundations laid within the first game.

If developers take on board what the community is saying, the follow up could be quite something - as long as those live service rumours aren’t true.

Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t just left fans craving a sequel though, it’s reminding them of an old-favourite of yesteryear.

Yes, the PlayStation 1’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Enjoy a tour of Hogwarts’ four house common rooms below.

I said Hogwarts Legacy was the best Wizarding World game and I stand by it, but Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, or Sorcerer's Stone depending on your locale, is a close second.

This is the gem that gave us the famous PS1 Hagrid. How could we not want to revisit its hallowed halls?

Whilst an official remake is unfortunately not on the cards, one fan has embarked on a mission to at least partially recreate the game.

YouTuber Ripper Junkie is working on the partial remake in Unreal Engine 5 and it’s so lovely to see this classic brought back to life.

“So, I am a big fan of the Harry Potter old school video games that were released during the early 2000s era. I especially love the first three Harry Potter games and the fifth one. I am a game developer and I thought that it would be a good idea to remake some game mechanics from those games so that we can get a taste of what it would look like a remade version,” the creator wrote.

Take a look at the project in action below.

"All games should be remade like this,” one viewer said.

“This is amazing. This is exactly what I want to see from a AAA studio,” said another.

Sadly, it’s not a remake we can play but this simple look at ‘what if’ is enough to scratch that nostalgic itch for now.
