Fallout has done a brilliant job of showing its players what America might look like after nuclear war (not that we’re in a rush to see it for real), however, there are some iconic locations that have been missed. Mainly, New York.

We’ve travelled to Vegas, and we’re even taking a trip to merry ol’ Blighty in Fallout: London, but we’ve yet to see Bethesda transport us to the Big Apple. So, one fan has decided to remedy that mistake via ‘Operation Manhattan’.

This Brotherhood of Steel quest isn’t for the fainthearted, meaning any interested in attempting to beat it should ensure they’re at least level 30 or above; the creator of this mod makes it very clear that this is a must. You could go against their wishes, but we see a lot of death in your future if you do.

Seeing as we're in a post-apocalyptic mood, don't forget to watch Fallout's official trailer.

Your itinerary is simple: “Travel to New York and fight Super Mutants, Raiders and Gunners through Central Park, Manhattan and the subways. Rescue a captured BoS soldier from the Gunner facility, and acquire and destroy their weapon technologies.”

Praise for this mod expansion has been steadily coming in since it went live. “I wished I had found this mod when I gave up on Fallout 4 a few years back,” shared one fan. “I came back, only because some friends told me of some GREAT QUEST MODS (like yours) that would get my attention! Yes, yes it did, and [I] certainly could not stop playing this quest until the end. That's saying something!”

A lot of exclamation points there. Still, it goes to show how strong the love for this new mission is. “That was huge fun! Quick and brutal. Glad I had some heavy firepower in my arsenal, it surely got a workout. This one is a keeper. Enthusiastically endorsed!”

Interest in Fallout has spiked recently, as shown by the renewed interest in Fallout 4, thanks to Amazon’s series due to air shortly. As a result, now is the time to dip back into this franchise if you’ve been absent for a while.

NexusMods is the place to go if you want to try ‘Fallout: Operation Manhattan’ for yourself.
